The rise of authoritarianism and military coups has led to the erosion of democratic institutions and the suppression of opposition voices. The international community must continue to monitor these developments and hold governments accountable for any human rights violations or attempts to suppress dissent and opposition. Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia has used brutal forces to suppress opposition, the use of draconian laws to silence critics, imprisonment of activists, and the use of lethal violence against protesters. The rising of authoritarian tendencies in The Phillippines and Indonesia is also a huge influence in the declining democracy index in the region.

Sarah Razita, Made Panji Teguh Santoso Copyright (c) 2024 Politics and Humanism https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal-old.unhas.ac.id/index.php/jph/article/view/35380 Tue, 25 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 ENHANCING TRADE UNION LEADERSHIP: LESSON FROM THE PAST EXPERIENCE https://journal-old.unhas.ac.id/index.php/jph/article/view/34334
Leadership in the trade union is an important factor in determining the successful function of the union to the members. The main goal of conflict management is how to create a collective security situation. In compiling this research, the author used qualitative research methods. This research also uses data collection methods from literature reviews. The return to power of the Taliban's Islamic politics in Afghanistan in 2021 greatly shocked the international world, after previously having been in power in 1996-2001. The worrying security conditions in Afghanistan then prompted the United Nations (UN) to take part in resolving the Taliban conflict. The Security Council then formed the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) on March 28 2002 to create peace and stability for society and institutions in Afghanistan. UNAMA has pursued human rights values in Afghanistan through various means such as advocacy and cooperation with various parties including the government, military, society, and international groups.
Fiorentina Anggrein , Frya Syahriani Pahlevi , Prilla Marsingga Copyright (c) 2024 Politics and Humanism https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal-old.unhas.ac.id/index.php/jph/article/view/34166 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Sebab-Sebab Utama dan Sebab-Sebab Pemicu Faktor Sosial Budaya dalam Konflik Etnis di Maluku https://journal-old.unhas.ac.id/index.php/jph/article/view/34168
Abstract:

Ethnic conflict in Maluku is the result of various complex factors which include political and economic instability after the fall of the Soeharto regime, cultural and identity differences, and rivalry in controlling economic and political resources. The conflict involved Muslim and Christian groups, which was initially related to ethnic disputes but developed into a wider religious conflict. Factors triggering ethnic conflict in Maluku include economic, political aspects, cultural differences, ethnic politics, and racial and ethnic differences. Post-conflict impacts include inter-religious distrust, social segregation, and the emergence of religious fundamentalism movements. Conflict management involves various parties with a security and recovery approach, and involves peace negotiations between Muslim and Christian communities. The role of community, religious and media figures is key in facilitating reconciliation and building sustainable peace in Maluku.
Pinto Rahmat Ade, Muhammad Abdullah Amin, Prilla Marsingga Copyright (c) 2024 Politics and Humanism https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal-old.unhas.ac.id/index.php/jph/article/view/34168 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000
